It’s been a while since I sat down and wrote my last ‘makeup starter kit’ post but today I’m back and focusing on the eyes, and in particular ‘eyeshadows’. The eyes are one of my favourite areas to experiment with makeup as there are countless products at both the drugstore and high-end department stores that you can use to create the perfect look. That perfect look can be anything from a sultry smokey eye, to a smart, and classic cat-eye. For those starting out with makeup the realm of eyeshadows can seem a little overwhelming, though when you know where exactly to look, you can pick out some real gems. I’ve put together a set of products which I think would be great for anyone starting to experiment with eyeshadow, including both cream and powder formulas.
Maybelline 24 Hour Colour Tattoos - These amazingly affordable pots of cream shadow make the perfect base for any eyeshadow look, though look equally great when worn alone. I personally love the shades ‘On and On Bronze’ (which seems to have earned somewhat of a cult status in the blogging world), and ‘Permanent Taupe’ (a matte and neutral shadow perfect for everyday wear).
Kiko Cream Shadow Sticks - If your looking for something thats even easier to apply than a cream shadow directly from the pot, then a cream stick is the perfect product to use. Simply swipe this across the lids and blend out with either you fingers or a fluffy eyeshadow brush.
Natural Collection Single and Duo Eyeshadow’s - Cheap and cheerful, but with brilliant quality are these eyeshadow pots from Natural Collection. They cost a mere £1.99 and are packed with pigment as well as being perfect for travelling with. They also have a great shade range and so are perfect for anyone looking to experiment or simply expand their makeup collection.
Makeup Revolution Eyeshadow Palettes - This brand is the place to go to if your looking to pick up an affordable eyeshadow palette. MR sells a huge range of palettes in a variety of shades, a lot of them being dupes for higher end brands (check out these posts for a dupe to Urban Decay’s Naked 2 - here and Naked 3 - here).
Sleek Eyeshadow Palettes - Another brand that sells affordable eyeshadow palettes is Sleek. My favourite is 'Oh So Special', which is pretty colourful palette but is perfect for summer.
